Check out this excerpt..... STAR Shepherd knows a raw deal when he sees one. And he’s got the worst one in the galaxy: to deliver a mysterious package to a rebellion to change the scales of power in favor of the common man. As he meets with an old friend to seek much-needed help, he draws the attention of a genocidal admiral willing to destroy entire worlds if it means catching STAR Shepherd. Will STAR survive the chase and bring hope to the rebellion, or deliver a gift into the hands of a worse power, tipping the galaxy into further chaos?

A torrent of red bolts scattered across the field, hammering into the shields to fade into nothingness. Errant shots zipped past, striking bits of stone and the trees behind them. A few overly eager resistance fighters leaned too far out of cover and caught blasts to their exposed bits. The assault grew in intensity as more soldiers rushed out of the jungle like a wave of armor and weaponry. Powered blasts lanced back from the resistance to meet a wall in the form of the hound knights. Most of the shots struck the black-clad soldiers, driving them back a step. A few fell to their knees as their armor absorbed the energy and kinetic impact. A clap of muted thunder went off from nearby. STAR missed the source, but he watched as a hound knight fell to his <strong>Star</strong> ass like he’d been struck by a sledgehammer. Black composite material showered from the soldier’s chest. STAR looked to see who’d fired the shot. Ahiko crouched behind similar cover close to a dozen yards away. The pilot had hung his cell-powered pistol from a loop on his waist and held onto a long rifle with a protruding magazine. The weapon’s build was far more slender that he would have imagined. A long, thin barrel extended from a larger rectangular frame. The pilot had to shoulder the weapon, placing a hand underneath the front of the weapon to help steady it.

Ahiko kept one of his eyes to the lengthy scope fixed atop the weapon. One of his hands slid against part of the weapon Star couldn’t see. The pilot squeezed the trigger, the rifle bucking in his grip. Another crack of thunder sounded. Another hound knight tumbled back, armor shattering where the round had struck...
